Comprehensive, scalable, universal test solution enables significant improvements
in ROI and contributes to low test cost of ownership
OptimalTest announces its new suite of software products, Test Management
Solutions (TMS), the semiconductor industry's first comprehensive, scalable and
universal software tool for test management of the entire integrated circuit
(IC) testing process, from pre-production to post-production.
Debuting at this year's International Test Conference in Santa Clara,
California, OptimalTest's Test Management Solutions (OT-TMS) is a totally
integrated, automated software solution. OT-TMS delivers significant
improvements in ROI for existing, installed test technology assets. Because
OT-TMS is customizable, it can add considerable valuable and differentiation to
a semiconductor company's devices and process, no matter whether the company is
an IDM, foundry, fabless or assembly/test house.
OT-TMS addresses the critical test challenges of test time reduction (TTR),
utilization, yield, quality and reliability. By enabling measurable,
significant improvements in each of these five key areas, OT-TMS lowers overall
test cost of ownership.
Seamless Connectivity with the Business Enterprise, Modularly or Entirely
Available as a comprehensive suite of test management solutions or modularly,
as building blocks, OT-TMS delivers seamless connectivity among the five OT-TMS
modules as well as with a company's business enterprise systems. The five
OT-TMS modules are:
OT-Mgr. The heart of OT-TMS, OT-Mgr provides integrated and coherent management
of the multidisciplinary facets of test operations, enabling advanced
generation of testing algorithms. OT-Mgr incorporates OT-Rules, the industry's
first testing scenario language with easily customizable predefined rule
templates.
OT-Sim. A new industry capability that enables the simulation of testing rules
on actual test results prior to implementation in production, OT-Sim helps
quantify benefits, schedule monitors and execute what-if scenarios for maximum
efficiency and ROI.
OT-Box. OT-Box is the industry's first real-time, universal station controller
for all testers, probers, handlers and test programs. OT-box is totally
process- and device-independent, supporting all levels of test parallelism. As
part of OT-TMS, it executes rules that have been created and simulated, and
implements them for wafer sort and final test in real-time or off-line.
OT-Post. OT-Post reevaluates all test results to better control the quality and
health of all facets of your testing operations. OT-Post performs cross-quality
evaluations of the entire testing fleet and all device test-time and yield,
offering extreme data integrity. It also augments device reliability through
PAT and other advanced outlier detection techniques.
OT-Ops. Integrating a set of centralized test operation solutions that enable
operational excellence, OT-Ops supports the need for productive and efficient
test management while pinpointing inefficiencies to enable prompt responses.
Dan Glotter, co-founder and CEO of OptimalTest, says, "We are very pleased to
introduce our new Test Management Solutions (TMS) software product to the
industry and are excited by the advances in test management that it makes
possible. We believe it will make real differences in the quality of devices
and set new standards for management of IC production, from design through
post-production. As the former testing manager of an IC fabrication facility, I
have first-hand experience of the industry challenges, and I think OT-TMS will
be greeted as a welcome solution."
Nir Erez, co-founder and COO, adds, "We are very gratified by the cooperation of
over a dozen major semiconductor companies who shared their test data with us
as we developed OT-TMS. Beta testing OT-TMS resulted in some amazing results
and enthusiastic feedback, so we look forward to making a real contribution to
test management with OT-TMS."
Applies Principles of Adaptive Testing for Optimal Results
OT-TMS is based on principles from the new field of adaptive testing. To perform
adaptive testing, it is mandatory to have both full test module control in
real-time and the ability to create and calculate multiple algorithms for each
die in real-time. (See accompanying backgrounder on adaptive testing.)
OT-TMS is applicable to all kinds of devices -- SoC, Logic, Memory, Mixed
Signal, RF, CMOS Sensors, Stacking CSPs, Mutli Core - from wafer sort to final
test.
Issues of quality, reliability and cost are more critical than ever and require
more sophisticated test management because of the explosion of
semiconductor-driven applications in consumer electronics, mobile
communications, the automotive industry, and medical devices.
OT-TMS is available immediately; pricing depends on module configuration and
other variables and is available by request. For more information, contact

This is the company's first financing round. It will develop solutions for Fab
processes for chip makers.
Start-up OptimalTest recently completed a $14 million financing round from
Pitango Venture Capital and
Carmel Ventures. The round was particularly large compared with rounds
by companies still being set up and raising money for the first time.
OptimalTest CEO Dan Glotter and Nir Erez founded the company a few months ago.
Glotter was previously testing manager at Intel Israel's Kiryat Gat. Erez was a
partner in Eyron, and was
founder and CEO of ActionBase,
an Eyron spin-off.
OptimalTest plans to develop automation solutions for Fab processes, especially
in the testing and control stages. Its products are intended for chip and
semiconductor makers.
Erez told "Globes" that the reason OptimalTest raised such a large amount of
money was the high cost of development and reaching the company's intended
markets. "Without expanding on the technology, development and market
penetration costs in this industry are very high. This is a very significant
and painful area for chip makers, who bear heavy testing costs. Our solution
will cut these costs. The company is also the great hope in the technology
field, and the hope of realizing this hope in terms of technology is
expensive."
Erez said he thought that Pitango and Carmel Ventures decided to make a large
investment because of the promise of OptimalTest's product.
